This month's Mail Art Club print is from the beloved Tori Haynes! Tori is an architect, illustrator, tattoo and ceramic artist, as well as a long-time friend of CAM and simply an amazing person. This beautiful print is titled 'The Swimmer' and was printed with Cornflower, Mediterranean Blue, and Florescent Orange inks on 80lb Vellum. Every gift to CAM gets a print in the mail, and all proceeds go to help us build a brand new arts space for our communities. We are well on our way and thank you all for your amazing support! The Common Objects Clothing and Art Library is getting ready to welcome donations soon! Artist Mekela Spence aims to establish a cozy pop-up library within CAM, which will serve as a hub for folks from the community to both lend and borrow a diverse array of items. Items will span from art pieces to clothing, furniture, and even peculiar finds. The vision is to provide a space where people can appreciate beautiful objects without feeling the pressure to purchase them. |

We're planning to leverage the generosity of our community members by accepting donations of clothing, small furniture, and housewares for lending purposes. Rest assured, anything you contribute will be returned to you at the end of its lending period. To get involved, keep an eye out for the membership application and donation call-outs, which we'll be sending out by the end of this month. Our target is to kick off the Library's launch sometime in mid to late July. We hope to make this collaborative consumption model a success while also supporting the growth of the new CAM space!

Starting May 1, Jess Artigliere be offering consulting sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, 11am-5pm, in the printshop @common_area or over zoom. This offering is for folks who want to print a zine or have an idea for a small publishing project. Jess can help you plan, budget, and/or print your project. You can book a 1-2hr session by following this link. Please include your pronouns, a brief outline, draft, and/or idea (depending on what stage your project is at), what you’re hoping to focus on during the session, and any access needs. PWYC $40-$60. This fee doesn’t include fees associated with printing but we can run estimates during the session if you’re hoping to print together! |

Join these writers at Common Area Maintenance on Tuesday, May 21, for a program featuring Amy Hirayama, Nanya Jhingran, Nhatt Nichols, Ricardo Ruiz, Ann Teplick, Acca, and Ankober Yewondwossen.
