Happy March — the month of the Vernal Equinox, crocus blossoms, longer days, & another print from our Mail Art Club! And this month, you actually get three!

March’s Mail Art features a poetry broadside triptych from our dear friends and beloved Seattle poets Jane Wong, Paul Hlava Ceballos, and Quenton Baker, designed & printed by artist Eric Olson. These prints were printed on Franny, our FR risograph machine.

Support CAM with a sustained monthly donation and join CAM’s Mail Art Club, where you will receive a riso print in the mail from local artists every month! Your monthly donations go to funding our second studio/gallery so we can provide even more space for artists, writers, performers, and the community at large.

Common AREA Maintenance had so many incredible events in the last month! Thanks to everyone who came out to support the artists and all the folks that help make it happen! We think of our space as a community resource and are always looking for new ways to activate our gallery — If you are interested in hosting an event Drop us a line and let’s chat it up!

A congratulations to Anne de Marcken on the publication of her book, “It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over,” winner of the 2022 Novel Prize. It was an honor to be the Seattle home for this book launch. Buy this book!

Join us for Writing Black @ The House, a monthly gathering that centers and prioritizes Black Creatives in a supportive and empowering community. Meetings are crafted for the artist within, exploring topics such as navigating anger in creativity, writing about love, overcoming self-doubt, and embracing our cultural roots in storytelling.

Whether you're an experienced writer or just starting on your creative journey, Writing Black @ The House welcomes you to join us as we explore, learn, and grow together.

Come draw with us! Our art studio hosts a public, live figure drawing session every month. All experience and skill levels are welcome. This is a welcoming environment and we encourage new members. Come meet new people and sharpen your drawing skills!

Poses range from 1-25 minutes. Please bring paper and drawing supplies. We have everything else!

Sat, March 16, 11 am - 12 pm

You could use a streeeeeetch among friends. Join us for our monthly yoga class with Evelina Miropolsky! For every body & ability.

Sign up ahead of time to secure a spot! These are small classes with supportive friends. Best to come 15ish min early to grab some tea, say hello and get situated.

Tiered pricing $10-$15-$20. We want our classes to be open and available to all people and not cost prohibitive.

Murmurations! is a four-part reading series features acclaimed poets, writers, and comics artists who teach in SAL’s Writers in the Schools program. Each event is free and open to the public.
These resident writers come together to read from their own works-in-progress, inspiring the same craft and performance skills they teach in the classroom.
