Hello Dear Friends,

As we look back on what CAM accomplished in 2024 (and the first couple months of 2025!), our thoughts immediately turn to you and the many ways you support our organization. Because of your generosity, our all-volunteer team was able to accomplish so much! A few of our highlights from the past year include:

• Expanding into our second space, Common OBJECTS

• Hosting the book launch of several new books including Anne de Marcken’s It Last Forever and Then It’s Over, which won both The Novel Prize and the Ursula K. LeGuin prize for fiction. Wow!

• Running a clothing and art library organized by CAM member Meke Spence

• Developing a new writers membership and hosting our first term of CAM writing classes

• Premiering a full stage production of Amontaine Aurore’s playThe Ever-Expanding Moment

• Hosting youth arts groups Arts Corp and Youth Speaks

• Launching our first BIPOC Artist Residency which our community panel awarded to Gerry Sims

JOB – UW Bothell Clamour Literary and Arts Journal – Deadline Feb 28th

We are searching for someone to lead our Clamor literary and arts journal course for the 2025-26 academic year. Clamor is run as a credit/no-credit course, with a different emphasis each quarter. Students are responsible for soliciting, selecting, editing, layout, and distribution, as well as putting on a launch party and exhibition of the accepted artworks. After soliciting and selecting creative work in creative writing, visual art, audio/video and collaborative creative work in Fall and Winter, Spring quarter is spent laying out the journal in InDesign, creating the digital edition, and organizing the launch. Editors can join at any point in the process, and we usually hold on to some editors from one quarter to the next to pass on their knowledge to the incoming cohort. It's a highly intensive, collaborative, and student-directed experience, and it best serves the needs of students with backgrounds in literature, the arts, media, and business, but it is open to anyone with a special interest in publishing and the arts. The class usually meets once a week for a 2-hour editors’ meeting synchronously with editors taking on additional tasks outside of class.  

We hope to hire one person to teach the full series of courses and to lead this project from start to completion. We have many existing resources and relationships to support the instructor.

Compensation: the course is 3 credits in autumn, 3 in winter, and 4 in spring. The instructor will be paid for the credits as a percentage of a 5-credit course. In general, IAS part-time lecturers start at $6350-6500 per 5-credit course.

GRANT – 4Culture Art Projects Grant – Deadline March 12th

Artists and art groups all over King County use the Art Projects grants to create and share their work of any discipline or medium.

OPEN CALL – Instruction Manual for a New Era – Deadline March 21st

The PNW Conceptual Art Center (a conceptual art project by Adelaide Blair) is having an open call for our new book, “Instruction Manual for a New Era. “ How do we build a vision of our country that we want to live in? Maybe we should start at home. No fees to enter. 

CONTRACT GIG – 4Culture On-Site Reviewer – Ongoing

Reviewers attend events hosted by arts, heritage, and science and technology organizations, including performances, exhibits, workshops, and festivals. Their role is to provide concise, written summaries that reflect their overall experience of the program, including quality, audience, and observable management indicators. These written comments help support the next panel process for Sustained Support.

GRANT – ArtsWA Art Project Grant – Deadline May 12th

This grant offers project-specific funding to groups seeking to provide community arts and cultural experiences. Organizations do not need to have an arts-focused mission to apply.
