We’re looking for community-oriented artists, writers, illustrators, and zine/comic types to join our printshop at Common AREA Maintenance (CAM)!

Our shop operates as a collective of printers at the back of a collaborative art studio and storefront gallery space in downtown Seattle. CAM is an indie, leftist, anti-capitalist space, built by artists, for artists—we prioritize access to tools and resources, facilitating creative play, and taking an intentional role in our community.

We are looking for artists + creative folks who:

  1. Have an active practice (this is an open-ended definition, but generally it means your art is something you have dedicated yourself and your time/resources to).

  2. Are interested in and up for community engagement (this might mean helping out with some of the public programming we do, sharing skills with other members, curating shows in our gallery, tabling at fairs, etc.).

We primarily operate two risograph presses and have a mixture of bindery equipment and miscellaneous smaller printmaking tools and supplies—but we’re up for incorporating more working methods!

As a press, we host workshops + classes, participate in the local book fairs (Short Run, SABF, Olympia Zine Fest, etc.), and take an active part in the small press community in the PNW (hosting gatherings and a distro). As a member of the studio, you are encouraged to develop programming that excites you, in collaboration with and supported by the rest of the studio!
