Our board members represent the creative communities we serve. In addition to their professional expertise, they are all artists with active creative practices who understand the needs of cultural workers in Seattle and beyond.
Woogee Bae
Woogee Bae writes poems and edits at Snail Trail Press. Her writings have appeared in Afternoon Visitor, Tagvverk, and elsewhere. Find her @qodnrl

Aramis Hamer
Aramis Hamer is a painter and muralist whose art uses bright colors and focuses on divine femininity, music, the cosmos and higher consciousness. From a young age she always loved to create, but at the age of fifteen she discovered her love for acrylic paints. As a self-taught artist, Aramis has been able to showcase her large scale paintings at many different exhibitions in the greater Seattle area- including the Paramount Theater, Climate Pledge Arena, Bellevue Art Museum and more. In 2019, she was awarded the Cornish College of Arts Neddy Award in the painting category.

SecretaryMita Mahato
Mita Mahato is a comix artist, poet, and educator. Her work joins fragments of used and discarded materials in poetic experiments that dramatize ecosystemic survival against capitalism. Her books are Arctic Play (The 3rd Thing 2024) and In Between (Pleiades 2017), and her poetry comix have appeared in places including PRISM, Ecotone, Shenandoah, Iterant, ANMLY, and Drunken Boat. Her work has been supported by San Francisco Center for the Book, Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (HWK), Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB), Loghaven, Storyknife, Black Earth Institute, Mineral School, and Seattle Office of Arts and Culture. Mahato received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Oregon and teaches poetry and comix at all levels.

Sabrina Chacón-Barajas
Sabrina Cachón-Barajas is a Mexican and Salvadoran educator and multimedia artist based on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples. Her practice exists at the intersection of education and artmaking, where both become an exchange of inquiry, reflection, and empowerment. Through teaching, she cultivates spaces that center joy through experimentation and self-discovery. she approaches her own artmaking with multiple mediums to explore the complexity of my intersecting identities rooted in generational acts of survival.
CAM Staff
Timothy Firth
Timothy Firth is an artist and the Executive Director of Common AREA Maintenance (CAM) and has led the growth of CAM into a multi-site arts organization that operates studios, galleries, a printshop, and public programs serving hundreds of artists and thousands of visitors each year.
Firth’s artistic practice centers on participatory sculpture and experimental instruments that invite audiences to activate the work through touch, sound, and collective interaction. His projects have been presented in galleries, public programs, and collaborative performances that explore how shared creative experiences can build connection across communities.

Amy Hirayama
Amy Hirayama is a writer and educator from Seattle. She teaches English at South Seattle College and is a creative writing instructor with Writers in the Schools. Amy is co-founder and editor at Run Your Mouth Press, a short run literary project in collaboration with poet Simon Wolf.
